reVIEW from the ROOFTOP
Wait, where did August go?!?! It was a month we chilled, we travelled and took some down time and still managed to catch so many great live acts with our ROOFTOP SPY on the ground in London.
Our top memorable moments...
Early on we managed to catch D A I S Y C H U T E at Century Club. She was such a star we followed her to the HEARD Collective alongside C E R I A N, M E L I N D A O R T N E R & N A T A L I E L I N D I for a night of truly mesmerising performances. Chilled, empowering, thought provoking!
We spied a local legend G R A C E H A R T R E Y on her departure from the big smoke on an extended hiatus to travel the world.
Meanwhile, our regular hustler B A R R Y L O C K E made some appearances of his own, stepping into the host shoes to cover ‘F o l k M o d e r n’, a night of original folk music which spied S A S C H A O S B O R N, married musical makers D G S O L A R I S and P H I L I P W H I T E H E A D. B A R R Y also appeared at ‘S e s s i o n s 5 8’, a hip London music showcase for singers and jammers. Speaking of showcases, B A R R Y also attended ‘The Showcase’ with S U B D I V I S I O N just last night in fact and then, back on the bank holiday weekend, a gorgeous acoustic showcase in Islington which also featured G I U L I A M A R E L L I, G A B R I E L B Y R D & C O N R A D V I N G O E (Feat: A N G E L A S H A F T O E). The Following Day it was down to ‘ D o r c h e s t e r A r t s F e s t i v a l’ in Maumbury Rings with ‘T H E S E S S I O N S’ function band who headlined the night. Barry was B U S Y!
August ROOFTOP RELEASES included E L I S H A B L U E in the form of ‘My Angel’. L I N D A L I N released her rendition of ‘Prokofiev: Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 119 & finally, J A Y G U N released ‘ Never Hold Me Down ‘, another rousing mix of hip hop and soul from the J A Y G U N catalogues.
We are all still ‘ O N E W I L L M A K E T H E J U M P ‘ which makes us excited for Barry's next release of his next single set for release in September.
August has seen so many wonderful musicians come our way and we are certain September will be no different. As we enter autumn we reflect fully on a summer of amazing opportunities, C A R N I V A L, formidable talents and unforgettable performances. September, we are so ready for you…we think....
