Ayrosh Launches Kenya

When you go to a new artists launch of their latest album, you expect that event to be ALL about that musician.   Well, our experience was vastly different as the EP Launch for Ayrosh "Murasta" was was about Kenya.  The best of Kenya.  The differences of Kenya.  The food, the fashion, the language, the design.  Kenya has something to say and Ayrosh brought that to light.  In his words, "This Murasta is all about promoting Kenyan culture and Africaness through his folk fusion music."

The launch was at the Michael Joseph Center, a space created by Safaricom, for the expression and exploration of creative arts.  Oh, and it's a free space!  As we walk in we try to get close to the stage then realize there are 3 plus the mixing desk.  THREE stages, which during the night made every member of the audience feel they were in the concert, not just watching it.   I'll be honest, we went to this event as we had seen Tha Movement and thought they were inredibly talented - and had no idea the treat we were in for!

Ayrosh, a 27 year old Kikuyu, launching his first 7-song EP, brought together 6 artists of different genres, new styles mixing languages, his production team, wonderful food from a the local Fresh and More, he wore and represented sustainable fashion-forward designs by Henry Wanjala.

Do you ever have one of those evenings where your senses are on fire the entire time?  You don't know where to look,up, down, left, right, to dance or sit, to laugh or cry…it's intense!

After a lovely opening by Tear Drops, where tears were not dropped but laughter felt we hear but cannot see this voice that makes the hair stand up on our arms.  As the body caught up with the voice, the tears did role watching Kwame Rigii.  We look at each other wondering where this voice and this human had been hiding.

Smooth sounds from Ythera, mad beats from Jivu and the overall pulling it together by Jason Runo accelerated Ayrosh's event to the highest limits.  His 7 song EP (EP Typically means Extend play but in this  case I feel it means Every Person) is something that makes you smile, makes you dance and makes you realize how incredible Kenya is.

Well done - Listen NOW!
